Cerebral Palsy is the biggest part of me. because of it, my right arm & hand don’t work well enough for some ASL that uses both. How do I get around this without making a mockery of ASL?

I also see myself as Autistic, although not diagnosed. I can hear, & it’s my most reliable sense, the other senses can get "fuzzy" if I feel any emotion too strongly, or am in physical pain. For a lot of Autistics, sight is their most reliable sense, so they may be most comfortable on EYEth, or live on Terra Autie, & visit EYEth on vacation.

FOR THE RECORD, HEARING PEOPLE, THERE ISN’T A USL; THEY TRIED, BUT NO! & oral only schools scare me spitless, because they teach the kids that signing Deaf people are stupid, or don’t try hard enough.

Someone who is "deaf" is physically deaf, but culturally hearing. (has hearing family,& is never allowed, or comfortable, to sign, or goes to an "oral only" deaf school, or maybe has an implant. "Deaf" people are culturaly & physically Deaf. Deaf kids may choose a Bilingual Deaf school. there’s even a Bilingual & Bicultural Deaf school in CA that welcomes the siblings of Deaf kids.If You are a hearing kid in a Deaf family, you are bilingual & bicultural.

Deaf & deaf people may find reading difficult because they "speak" ASL, or another Signed Language; NOT because they’re stupId! ENGLISH IS ITS OWN LANGUAGE, & ASL ISN’T "SIGNED ENGLISH!"

If I wanted to build EYEth on earth, here are some ideas, There should be amplifiers under the dance-floors, something to let Deaf people feel the music in their hands, colored lights that flash as the music changes, smells that tell the songs mood, & food to tell the style. (I swear Blues TASTES like BBQ & SMELLS smokey & Jazz is like gumbo) Deaf people only need to wear socks (only if they want, no one will say they can’t wear shoes) but all the hearing people would have to experience Deafness & be treated like crap before they could leave. Menus are signed, touch your flag & someone signs to you what the choices are to eat.

On planet EYEth, as many foods as possible are in clear containers, with picture lables. Still unsure what kind of nuts are in the bread you might buy? scan it, touch your flag, & someone signs it. D/B, or just want a sample? Okay, tasting is permitted.

If you are Deaf, please help me, a hopelessly inarticulate hearing person, know more about planet EYEth. if you’re not Deaf, how does it feel to be the "disabled" minority? next time you see someone with a differance of ability, remember, if everyone was like that you’d be the one disabled.

earth is round.

Do they get to interact with each other Like, do music videos featuring artists from different labels and record songs too?

Yes, they do sometimes in fact. It is usually between completely different companies, and it usually is through a sponsored company like for an advertisement or a soundtrack OST.

But, it’s often rare to see one of the big three do a collaboration (SM, YG, JYP). Actually, I don’t think there has ever been an official collaboration between them (except for the recent music video with Heechul & Jungmo).

Companies tend to have such different variations and styles in their music, it is often hard to mesh them together for a good song. Talent wise, they would all be able to work together, but the genres of their respective music is really different.

Live stages are often put together, so those are more common than actual song releases.

I got what it takes, i have work ethic, drive, i sing, dance.
music is my passion its my dream to become a famous pop star.

Where do i go to find good managers for music and what should i have with me to make then believe in me?

First of all, I wouldn’t go straight to getting a manager. If I was you, I would start looking for someone to record your great talent, and then master it. If you find a recording studio who will be willing to record your music, go do it. Once you have a few amount of songs you are happy with, make sure they are perfect and start think about Digital Distribution. Before you go big, you might want some of your music out there on the internet. I would suggest using Reverb Nation. It’s like $35 for an album, and it gets it on most of the major downloading sites.

http://www.reverbnation.com/main/overview_artist?feature=digitaldistribution

This way, you can start generating revenue off your music, and you can get it out in the world. See how people react to your awesome melodies, then act accordingly. Chances are, that if your music is good enough, then a manager or record company will come find you.
Good luck.

I wanna know is 28 is too old to become one? I dont read music or play any instuments but vocally I am very well trained and I can definetly pull off a big repertoire of opera.
My dream is to become like Sarah Brightman. How do I do it? Should I record an album and send it to different lables or just 3 songs? This has been my dream ever since I can remember and I just need some advice. Also, how can I work on my self confidence cause I do have a very low self esteem which might be caused by one or all of my conditions which depression, anxiety, bpd and psd, and add. Advice would be so apretiated and nice cause I have no family and no friends who would know about these kind of stuff.
this answer is to person nr 2. a whhole lot of people got record deals through sending in demo to different lables, of course producers listen to you. tons of big stars made it that way and i do not have any interest in actually doing operas ever, my dream is just to have my own concerts and perhaps later on do some classical musicals.
kind of like hayley westerna, charlotte church, enya, sarah brightman, etc

I’m a little confused.

When I was younger, I wanted to be like that. I idolize Sarah Brightman. But as I grew, I realized my true calling was opera. I worked my butt off, trained harder than anyone, and managed to make it into a New York opera conservatory where I study night and day with some of the best names in the world.

Now, at 28, no, I wouldn’t say you’re too old…. but that is pretty late. You don’t have a lot of time to be wasting. How can you not read music?! If you can’t read music, how are you a musician? A good voice is NOT enough in the professional music world. It requires talent, skill, determination, training, and a combination of who you know and luck. If it’s been your dream for so long, why have you not had the proper training and why have you waited so long?

The names you listed were mostly very young when they started, and many of them no longer have good careers because of vocal problems, so MAKE SURE you have a voice coach and are not harming your voice.

If you want to be an opera singer, then…. you need to sing in operas. You can’t just sing arias on CDs. Well…. I mean, I guess you can, but who would buy them? You need to get your name out there somewhere.

Here’s my suggestion: Get into an opera program somewhere. Meet the right people. Try to get a record deal with someone. Get rejected about 9 kazillion times, and then finally, if you’re lucky, you might be hit by a falling star and it will come true.

If you have low self-esteem…. it’s not going to work. You better have tough skin for this industry.

At 28, I would advise you not aim to be like Hayley Westerna or Charlotte Church, who were little girls when they started singing. Uh-uh. Not good role models.

Start practicing, become AMAZING, and study classically with a great teacher. Don’t go jumping into big stuff until you’re ready. Personally, I don’t want to say it’s too late for you, but…. be prepared, because this isn’t likely to happen.

But good luck! I wish you the best in the world.

I am 12 years old and my dream is to become a singer.
I am doing Grade 4 singing can reach top C.
However i’m not too sure how to furfill my dream.
I can sing two types of music which is classical/opera and Pop/ R&B.
I heard i need to record a demo but how? Do i need to write my own song or sing an made up song?
Also i am not too good at writing songs, so where does inspiration come from and how do you get a catchy tune in your head. On top of that what equimpent to i need to record a track.
How do you get in touch with record lables? Or where do you find them?
Please help me!!!??????? I want to become someone different and original!! Also Would Classical music and a hint of pop be good, would you like that style?
Thank you!!!

You’ve got to sing…worldwide! Seriously though, as you’re only 12 you have many years to achieve your dream and what you need to do is keep singing, keep learning, and keep up your determination. Mix with other singers/musicians and maybe get a little band together. Put videos up on you tube and create a blog/facebook account when you are old enough or have your parents do it for you, then add your link to you tube. The idea is to promote yourself as much as possible and hope to get seen.

I am 15 years old and music is my passion. I post on YouTube and have somehow managed to get up 2,300 subscribers. I’m known neighboorhood wide for my original song I performed at my school talent show. I sing, play guitar and piano and write my own songs.

That’s just a little about what I do, but I am planning on recording a demo to send to various record lables in the next 6 months and I need to know more about doing that.

Some questions:
How much does it cost?
Will the recording studios edit some stuff or will that cost more?
How many songs need to be on the cd?
What are some good lables to send to?
Are back up musicains needed or is just singing and guitar good enough?
If they are needed, how much money does it cost to get them?

And if you know anything else, PLEASE INCLUDE IT. The most helpful answer gets 10 points.

Thank you! =)

You sound like a very bright and talented young lady so in your case, I suggest that perhaps, you should not go to a recording studio but, instead buy your own home recording studio and record yourself. Why? Because you are certainly capable to doing it yourself and it will be much cheaper if you do it yourself.

A recording studio will charge you in the neighborhood of $65 to $100 and hour or more and that is not just for the time you are there to record but also for the time it takes them to edit, mix, and master your songs. But, you could purchase your own home recording studio and have money left over. Not just any recording software either but, the industry standard software, the very same software that most recording studios use.

You can choose any of these Pro Tools packages depending upon what you need or can afford …

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Avid-Pro-Tools-Mbox–3rd-Gen–Package-431055-i1597800.gc

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Avid-Pro-Tools-Mbox-3-Mini-Package-431054-i1563057.gc

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Avid-Pro-Tools-Mbox-Mini–3rd-gen–106091184-i1552697.gc

All of those systems above include the latest 3rd generation of Pro Tools software. The Mbox USB computer interface has a built in music quality sound card so you will be able to produce broadcast quality music right in your own bedroom in your pajamas and you’ll even be able to sell your music on iTunes, Amazon.com, Tunecore, CD Baby and more Internet web sites. You can even get local radio stations to play your music for you and many local music stores will also sell the CDs for you if you just ask.

Record companies today are in trouble financially due to Internet which is making it easy for people to download free music and allows many independent artists to sell there own music at iTunes and Amazon and many other web sites. So, as a result of this, they are not signing as many people as they used to and those they do sign already have a very large (in fact huge) fan base so, they know that if sign them, they will make money. Record Labels are not taking risks on unknown artists like they used to in years previous. So, how do I know all this stuff? I’m a songwriter and it’s my business to follow the trends in the music industry. You should read Jay Franks book titled FUTUREHIT.DNA – http://www.futurehitdna.com/ – One thing that you must do is to make sure that your music is at a very high professional level. You have to sound as good or better than any of the music now listed in the top 40 or top 100 tunes found at Billboard.com. Listen to the top 100 songs of 2009 and make sure that your music is as professional as any of those songs because that is what the people who spend money on music want to hear. If you do that, you can develop a track record of selling your own music at places like iTunes and Amazon then you even have an opportunity to have a top 40 album on Billboard long before you are signed by a record label.

I know what you’re thinking … you can’t do that, right? Well, have you ever heard of "The Arcade Fire"? They are an unsigned Canadian band that recently had the #1 album on Billboard.com (you get listed #1 by selling more albums than anyone else). You might also want to pick up a copy of the 2010 Songwriter’s Market. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_23?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=2010+songwriters+market&sprefix=2010+songwriters+market
This book will tell you how and where to send your music and offers some very good advice that will help you get your music noticed.

You also need to know the people at Disc Maker’s – http://www.discmakers.com/ – who will master and make CDs for you complete with the cover of your choice. Backup musicians are a good idea because it makes your music sound more complete. I play the guitar, bass and keyboard, so with the help of Pro Tools which supplies the drum tracks, I can record everything myself. If you go to a recording studio, that will cost you another $50 to $100/hr for studio musicians. With Pro Tools, you can talk to the best guitar, bass and keyboard players at your school and get them to be your background musicians for free. Why? Because you are giving them an opportunity to be recorded and you can provide them with several copies of the recording and if you sell any of your own music on iTunes or Amazon, you can pay them a percentage of what you get and you can draw up a very simple agreement with them for a share of the profits if you sell any of your recorded music. They also have an opportunity to be heard on the radio and you can even make a deal with them to record their music if they have any so it can be a win-win situation.

Welcome aboard! The world need more truly great singer/songwriters. I wish you well!

But my options are a little unreliable.

I understand becoming a music engineer, or a recording artist is something that takes a lot more than just your education to know what you’re doing. It takes lots of practice, patience and experience to become respectable in this career.

I considered going to a large, respectable school (Full Sail, Orlando, Fl) but realized I would be black-balled because it’s an accelerated program where one graduates just as quickly as they are enrolled.

I thought it was a hoax.

But I understand that it’s not what your education applies to you, it’s how I apply myself to my education-

I know enough people out there through just friendships that are on biglables and small lables so as long as I am marketing and practicing
what are my chances of succeeding?

Check out this site, its an independent artist resource center. You should be able to get a better idea of how to apply your music to the world.

Reading about the current battle between the RIAA and a Minnesotan mother who illegally dowmloded 24 songs, it doesn’t seem like the record lables’ goal is to protect themselves and the artists they represent. I understand what the lady did was wrong, as with all who illegally download, and sometimes remarket as their own work. But there’s a difference between making up lost revenue (24 songs on iTunes would cost no more than $50) and totally ruining someone’s life (current settlement in this case is $1.5 MILLION dollars). Such settlements, however, are not uncommon in such cases. Teens who don’t have two peenies to rub together get sued for at least a million per case. Also, how much of that money is actually going to go to the artist, who was the one that had their work stolen?

So I ask you, is the music industry REALLY trying to just protect themselves and artists?

It’s all about how much money someone can get – it’s not about what is right.

Never heard of it either… But I have heard of Phantom City Studio in Orlando, Florida. This record label is looking to sign new artists. If you have a song demo and you want to get signed by a record label you might want to check them out. If you think you have what it takes to get a record deal then go for it!
