if you have music where you purchased the beats from a beat maker and you have all the copyrights and everything ..will the label still not want to sign you or will it make a difference for them

A good record lies in the grooves, no matter what genre of music you do. If it sounds fresh, original and inventive then you have a good chance of a label signing you up.

if a band is signed to a record label (say BMG Records) and this record label has the rights to the video/ CD rights of this band, and the band decides to leave the record label for whatever reason

They now sign to another record label (say Columbia Records) and the band is becoming more commercialized and getting really big. Would the previous record label that the band left (BMG) be able to release any of the band’s previous work seeing as how they own the tights to that material?

Record labels do that sort of thing all the time. If the label has all of the rights they can do anything they want with the material that the artist recorded for them.

Does anyone know of music record labels that offer internships in the Los Angeles area?

I write songs, but they aren’t good enough. I am going to send some demos to some pop music labels, but if i don’t write my own stuff, am i allowed to sing something else? if so, what?

But in my experience in the pop industry, it matters more what you look like. If you’re absolutely beautiful and you can at least sing in tune they’ll let you in! You could sing other pop songs like miley cyrus etc.

a couple record labels are listening to my stuff and i want to know what they look for if theyd actually consider having me as part of the record label.i would just think your song has to be good, your lyrics, flow, and how you present it.somebody please help…

Lyrics, flow, how you present it, and most importantly: uniqueness. If you can’t stand out from the thousands of other rappers out there, you have little to no shot.

Aerosmith Fans: Question about Aerosmith and their Music Label?

Does anyone know what music label Aerosmith are under?…Are they still under Columbia Records (Sony Music) or they are under Universal Music? I know some of their previous albums were from Universal and the others were from Columbia. I’ve went to Sony’s and Universal’s official websites and they both list Aerosmith as one of their artists. Is it possible for Aerosmith to have two record labels?

Please, I’m curious to know and I can’t find the answer anywhere.

yes they can have more than one label, in fact they actually have one more album with sony in the contract and they are also signed with Geffen.

im not tryin to get a deal but i wanna know how to get noticed by major record labels.

the principle is easy:

1. keep playing gig’s and as many as u can
2: record and send copies to all record labels and keep doing it every month
3. put your stuff on youtube and myspace
4. socalize with other musicians who may have a record deal already

it’s actually easy to just keep doing these things but thats all u can do, the hardest is just patience, you just have to wait it out, thats it really until u get noticed, you will get noticed by all labels if u do what i mentioned above, but liking your stuff is a completely different thing. its hard.
