    @paintedponyxo An example would be like saying when you drive over a nail with your car’s tires, there’s also an invisible tire flattening demon that is responsible for you losing air in your tire. It’s just not true. The nail making a hole describes everything, the invisible demon makes no sense, describes nothing, and is entirely unnecessary in the process.

    @paintedponyxo I’m not saying you’re a freak for believing in a soul either. Just like I (generally) don’t flip out over people who are religious. I understand the common background that hundreds of millions of people here in the US have. I understand why you have grown up to think that souls exist.

    I’m just saying they don’t. It’s causal overdetermination – every process involved with a “soul” can be fully described with fully physical and tangible explanations.

    @paintedponyxo Ok this isn’t an abortion comment so I’ll say it.

    There’s no such thing as a soul. What we perceive to be a “soul” is the brain’s chemical and electronic reactions executing in a specific manner to generate thought. Your inner monologue or conscience is just an exemplification of this. I’m not saying this to be a downer or in anyone’s cornflakes. It’s just a fact of how the world works.

    it dos not matter is you get an abortion, you are not actually killing a life
    a fetus does not get a permanent soul until the third trimester. when the fetus is most active (kicking, moving) that is when a soul is entering and leaving the body. so if you get an abortion the soul that would have gone to that body will just go to another one.

    remember, abortions can also serve to save the fetus. so if it has downs, or won’t live long in the first place due to infection/disease (and the life it does live is normally in some kind of pain).
    i support abortion as a choice for several reasons, but poor quality of life is the best one.

    I don’t believe I ever once said I wasn’t one. I’m no different than anyone else. It’s not a pleasant thing, but it’s the truth none-the-less. As for the whole thing about them POTENTIALLY being something great, they also have the potential to be something horrible.

    So I haven’t read all 1200 comments or so on this topic, and really have no desire to. My simply input on “abortion” is, until that fetus is born and detached from the mother, it is a parasite. It is solely surviving off it’s host. Until that is in my phone book, it’s not a person. (Thank you Bill Hicks)
