Jammie Thomas – Single Mother Loses To Big Record Labels

I will never buy an album again.

In the first US trial to challenge the illegal downloading of music on the Internet, a single mother from Minnesota was ordered Thursday to pay 220,000 dollars for sharing 24 songs online…

Thomas, an employee of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, an Indian tribe, was ordered to pay a 9,250-dollar fine for each of 24 shared songs cited in the case, including Godsmack’s “Spiral,” Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills” and Sara McLachlan’s “Building a Mystery.”

$3,500 for 24 songs? This means that someone with only 10GB of music wolud have to pay $150000 to settle. That’s totally sick. People who do those lawsuits should be decapitated.

    Another thing that …
Another thing that is remarkable to me is that I hear a lot of people say that music suck today. This is a very true statement and the last albums and singles I bought was in 2005 and they were amazing.

However if music sucks today then why do people keep paying for it. Let me take it a step further, why even download it illegally if the music sucks that bad? I am just not understand where the freeloaders stand at the moment.

  16. jokericon00 says:

    I have never …
I have never downloaded illegally if you are referring to me. I know how much hard work goes into creating music and movies. So thank you for wanting them to convict me.

For you second response it is outrageous that she must pay that much however they gave her a chance just like everyone else to just pay $3,500. Instead she decide to fight it and lost. Now she has to pay even more money when she could have just settled for $3,500.

  17. BlackThoughtChannel says:

    I hope they convict …
I hope they convict you for downloading illegally, because I know you have.

  18. BlackThoughtChannel says:

Where is the protest? People need to stand the up and PROTEST THIS SHIT! ITS OUTRAGEOUS!

  20. BlackThoughtChannel says:

    No, them! And …
No, them! And you too! A single mother deserves an order to pay $2 million to a multi-billion dollar industry? For a transgression that MILLIONS of Americans are guilty of??

God, some people..I’ll bet you are a Republican.

  21. sp026 says:

    “I commend them …
“I commend them They are doing the Right Thing”

Are certain to seek their rights, but charge a fine of $ 2 million of whom can not pay $ 200? This is right? Capitalism okay guy but, that there is cowardice and theft.
This matter is closed for me also, there are even people who were born to be exploited by others.

  23. tiecuando says:

    Okay, besides the …
Okay, besides the big corps being greedy, why do juries keep convicting people? You people understand that you can let someone go, even if they are guilty to the letter of the law, right? It’s called jury nullification.

  24. sp026 says:

    What the american …
What the american justice and the music companies are doing with this woman is a shame. Boycott of them already.
