The Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite prison movies (along with Escape from Sobibor and Lock Up) – unique storyline, fantastic acting, brilliant ending. Tim Robbins was special but I loved all the actors

    I genuinely doubt …
I genuinely doubt youtube comments is where we’re going to find people who’ve incredible experiences and especially when the comment is so generic. If it were “I was falsly imprisoned and hope is the only thing that got me through, way to go Andy!” that wouldn’t be mindless as it’d have been based on their life. However if it is just fantasy talk, which I reckon genpatton is talking from; mindless. Normal life is normal for a reason – youtube comments being the greyest of the grey.

    Zerlina- the song …
Zerlina- the song is about a woman asking another man to meet her at the big tree in ‘the’ garden when the moon has risen.
when u think about it, this songs actual lyrics add symbolic meaning to the film i just realized, because Andy asks Morgan freeman to go to his “special” big tree later in the film.. haha kind of cool actually

  16. JKeenLow says:

    what makes you …
what makes you think those are mindless comments? the people that write that might actually have gone through what Andy did or even worse….

The song is “Che soave zeffiretto”. It’s a duet from Mozert’s The Marraige of Figaro. You would recognize the overture as well.

    When your character …
When your character is a prisoner whose served most of his life in prison and most likely has little education on things that dialog makes complete sense. I don’t see how this can be a crappy movie specially when we do live in a world of stone walls and iron bars and all we can really have in life is hope that the next day might be better.
