    You know, this …
You know, this video reminds me of all the lazy afternoons in the seventies I spent going through the used record bin at the local Goodwill, back when I was a teenager. Folks, if you understood what exactly was on vinyl in the early days of the LP, you’d know that 90 percent would be stuff you’d never want and never dream of playing. Mono symphonies! Exercise programs! Cha-cha with no-name orchestras! Most records have little value — or interest — for very good reason.

    That’s an entirely …
    That’s an entirely different hobby ;) .

    they collect,they …
    they collect,they don’t listen

  5. stijnkraft says:

    It’s a pity to see …
It’s a pity to see that the world’s biggest record collector still touches the grooves with his fingers and has the azimuth of his cartridges ajusted awfully. Still, If I had 3 million dollars and another 3 million for storage, I’d buy it and be happy for the rest of my life :)

    hey, I bet a lot of …
hey, I bet a lot of people DO give a (but I can only imagine you frustation…)
does anyone know what happened to him and his collection?

    no plastic sleeve? …
no plastic sleeve? i would say less than a dollar each.

  8. buysometrysome says:

    You may have two …
You may have two thumbs down but you’re absolutely right. The record market right now is insanely competitive. If you disagree go to a record show and find that super rare that is good is going for dollars.

  9. ronniedoll says:

    Have you sold these …
Have you sold these records yet mate? To me, your my hero, you are the ipidimy of somebody who had dedicated there life to acquring what I belieev is a fading hobby and you my friend should be in awe of what you have achieved. I think that they should make a statue of you for preserving, the most mind blowing record collection on the face of the planet…DITTO!

If i was him i would get stoned and listen to records all day!

  11. Princeton507 says:

    I have a question …
I have a question if that record store is still open where is it and how much do you sell your records for???

  12. monkeytek says:

    Yes, they will last …
Yes, they will last longer than any cd or dvd. Especially if they are taken care of. Even if they are scratched, it’s nowhere near as annoying as listening to a skipping cd.

  13. rockabillycat1954 says:

    Can’t the …
Can’t the Smithsonian or the Library of Congress purchase it? I mean, I know we’re in a really bad economy and all but we cannot lose our history either, and these records are part of our history.

  14. VinylFullofSoul says:

    Too cool!
    Too cool!

  15. gyretm says:

Im sure there is a …
Im sure there is a rock star or some celebrity that would easily pay 3 million just to say they have the largest record collection in the world! Or a big producer like Timbaland or Dr, Dre!

  16. nickstefani says:

    The bulk of this …
The bulk of this collection is most likely worthless. Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s worth anything. He needs to part out the valuable stuff and take the loss on the rest. If not, he will die and these records will go for pennies on the dollar.

  17. SouthOx says:

    they can if you …
they can if you know how to take care of them

  18. Microglia1 says:

    do these records …
do these records last longer than CDs today? CDs, DVDs, and types of compact discs are terrible storage devices. All my movies have fuzzy interruptions only after a few times of use.

  19. Webbula says:

    Those of us who …
Those of us who have records will keep the culture alive, just look at DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist.

Jerry’s Records in Pittsburgh. Check that place

  21. gmartnz1994 says:

    wow no kidding, but …
wow no kidding, but i meant dj’s today. Producers will definitely use them for sampling. Generally dj’s are different now, but based on your youtube account name im sure you know.

  22. djkaseone says:

    They did, it was …
They did, it was called hip-hop…lol…not to mention most producers are DJ’s….

  23. searske says:

Im only 21 and people do care about stuff like this. Amazing collection

  24. bantingjor says:

    Incredible clarity …
Incredible clarity of picture! I’ve a mere 4,700 records, tapes and disks, but as a collector, can identify with you.

Gawdnose what’ll happen to my collection when I go (I’m 57 right now). But I’m slowly putting some of the gems up on YouTube (and trying to dodge YouTube’s arbitrary “strikes” as I go).

ONE quibble – 1881? I also have an Emil Berliner disc – but it says “Patented Nov. 8. 1887″ (my particular one – Souza’s “Love Me Little Love Me Long” by Miss. Alice Raymond is dated 1895).
